At the Tashiling Secretariat today, Shri VB Pathak met with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Wholesale Retailers, Pharmacy Association, IOC Representatives, LPG dealers and distributors, petrol pump owners, and Taxi Drivers Association.
At the meetings, Shri AK Singh, DGP, Shri A Sudhakar Rao ACS from the Home Department, Shri Raj Yadav from the Transport Department, Ms Namrata Thapa from the Food & Civil Supplies Department, and other concerned Secretaries, as well as DC Gangtok, SP Gangtok, NHIDCL Executive Director, and BRO officials, participated.
At Lava and Reshi checkpoints, the Chief Secretary ordered NHIDCL to open pathways for small and large trucks quickly. The NHIDCL Executive Director promised route clearance by tomorrow morning. Small and heavy trucks must be diverted after the highway is cleared.
Private trucks delivering critical items through Rangpo, Reshi, and Melli Check Posts will not be charged SNT supervision fees to stabilize commodity prices, the State Government decided. If the SNT fleet transports vital items on the new route, charges will remain the same as before. This decision includes a payment for the extra 100 kilometers.
IOCL has been ordered to furnish MS and fuel tomorrow after the Food & Civil Supplies Department rationed them.
The LPG and Petroleum Products Distributors request a relaxation of traffic timing, and the authorities will be notified.
As the Chief Secretary advised members not to hoard LPG, petrol, and essentials, associations should not raise commodity prices.
To conclude, the Chief Secretary asked the Taxi Drivers Association not to overcharge customers.
