West Sikkim’s Soreng-Chakung constituency is home to seven block-level offices of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM). According to the press release released on Wednesday, the inauguration program was a basic effort to engage locals. Block-level offices have been established in Karthok, Ridhang-Timborbung, Mangsari Magarjung, Budang, and Chumbong, according to the statement.
According to the SKM president, the current leadership has mastered neo-feudalism and is using it to dominate and influence the locals.
I urge all Sikkimese citizens to vote based on principle, not on caste or creed, so that our society’s future can be secured. In 2014, we battled hard and won 10 State Assembly seats despite the odds. With our deity’s blessing and the people’s support, we are confident we will win the 2019 election.”
Founded in 2013, the SKM is Sikkim’s second largest party and the opposition in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. A deadline of 25 February has been given to the government to respond to 35 requests from the party. Unless they respond, they’ll declare a 24-hour “bandh” on February 28 and protest.
